The San Francisco Exploratorium and its educational activities were relocated from their dual locations in San Francisco and united under one roof on Pier 15. All of the original Pier structures were renovated and utilized, and a new Observatory Building was added. This structure is now placed at the end of the Pier and is constructed of structural steel and glass, housing a restaurant, exhibits, classrooms, a museum and a café.
- Atlas provided continuous inspections, ultrasonic testing and paint coating inspections for the steel piles that were fabricated at XKT Engineering.
- Atlas provided precast inspections at Kie-Con for precast girders.
- Onsite scope of services included reinforcing steel, concrete placement and sampling, structural steel welding inspections, non-destructive testing, paint coating, plywood and sheetrock nailing, metal stud framing, epoxy doweling and proof load testing.
